Default Going for first session...worried about injuries

I have asked for armbars and headscissors and for her to ignore my taps, but now I'm worried I could get injured...should I be ok or is it possible I will get an injury?

I think you will be fine but if it's really your first session you may want to think twice about the ignoring submissions part. Only certain girls will lay a serious beating on you.......and only then if they feel comfortable with you and you have made it very clear that you want the treatment.

Yeah - that's my question too.

It also depends on you. And, do you want to be knocked out?

Headscissors are pretty safe, but across the throat can lead to undesired bruising cause it's a soft area.

Worst you can get from most standard neck/head scissors that avoid the throat is a stiff neck - unless you pass out and she keeps the hold on, loss of blood-flow and oxygen can lead to headackes and even death. Most session wrestlers will let you go one you pass out though out of common sense. As long as they let go, headscissors are mostly safe.

Armbar, if they crank full strength can lead to dislocation (as Ronda Rousey's opponents know), but if the lady is careful, that probably doesn't happen.

You run a much bigger risk of being pokadotted with prolonged head-scissors. That happens to some guys more easily than others. It's not harmful but it can lead to some "what happened to you?" looks and questions. You can always say it's a food allergy.

Is your session lady experienced or new? Sadistic or friendly? A 200 lb body builder and strong as an ox, or an athletic 120 lb hottie?

I've found, "ignore taps" works best for me with a time limit. I've done anywhere between 3 and 10 seconds and once, 1 minute (by stopwatch), and that way, I knew there was an end in sight, even though I was struggling and sometimes begging. A precise time limit on ignoring taps has worked for me, but that's optional advice, of-course.

If it is headscissors and a embarks exclusively your chances of injury are low in my opinion. Sessions wrestlers I would presume have adequate control to ensure pain without injury. It's actually very difficult to hurt SERIOUSLY injure someone in an armbar. If she hyper extends it a little it may get sore though. I think as long as YOU are not thrashing about, you should not be seriously injured. Probably, just very sore haha

If you are worried about injuries, and it's your first session, I would reconsider the 'ignore taps' this time. Maybe don't do that until you know how much pain you can take, or how long you can endure a hold.
What you could do is ask the lady to release the hold upon tapping, BUT, if she fancies, then reapplying the same hold straight away. This should get across the dominance aspect pretty well, and at least gives your neck/arm a wee break (pardon the pun!).

Depends who it is. Most think of ignoring taps as not releasing immediately, they will keep the hold for a few more seconds and then release it. If they are prepared to do damage beyond that as you've asked for it, they will probably give you a safe word.

I also think that you should not have to be worried, but be careful about the "ignoring taps" part. Even if it only lasts a few seconds, the session wrestler cannot always be aware of your body language and the experience could be uncomfortable.
Communication during the session is a key to build trust, and do not hesitate to tell your limits and your concerns.

If this is your first time getting scissored. Be prepared to get few red dots all over your face due to burst blood capillaries. Mine lasted for a good week before they full disappeared

After watching this thread develop, I am sort of curious: Why did you think ignoring taps was something you wanted to do as part of your first experience? Personally, I would never stipulate something like that but we all have different reference points.
