I guess Bec wasn't so "rowdy" tonight

I love Paige but I don't think she'll be able to seriously contend with the girls at the top of the division like Joanna, Karolina, Claudia or Carla.
I think a good next fight for her would be Courtney Casey.

Rawlings is another stiff. She should open her own tatoo shop. She reminds of of the girl on the UFC show who called herself the queen of spades; all talk and no show.

Page is a decent fighter, and good looker. I think opportunities outside of MMA will prove more lucrative for her. I am a fan but agree she will not be able to hang with the elite.

Has anybody seen the whole fight. I wonder why the opponent was hit by this kick. Was she already exhausted. What's the background of Rawlings ? BJJ ? Wrestling? A kick or thai boxer should be able to easy spot that kick early and defend against it.

No, Bec wasn't tired at all. The first round was pretty uneventful. Paige got in some leg kicks, Bec landed some punches, but both were cautious. Very close round. A flash knockdown at the beginning of the 2nd and Paige was smart enough to just pour on the punches so fast I knew the ref would stop it.

Here's Sherdog's call:

Round 1
Rawlings takes the center of the cage and follows VanZant as she bounces around the outside. The Australian comes down the middle with a right hand, grabs for VanZant’s legs but comes up empty. Rawlings steps into the pocket and gets caught with a quick two-piece before VanZant spins her against the fence. The strawweights separate with 3:30 on the clock, followed by a minute with little activity. Rawlings leans forward to draw VanZant forward, then slides back to avoid the “Dancing with the Stars” contestant’s leaping kick. VanZant tries for a clinch but can’t hold the larger Rawlings, who continues to control the cage from the middle. VanZant scores with a leg kick and a two-punch combo in the last 30 seconds, her best combo of the round, though they don’t seem to faze Rawlings.
Sherdog Scores
Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Rawlings
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Rawlings
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Rawlings

Round 2
Rawlings retakes her position in the center, but this time VanZant strikes first with a leaping switch kick from the outside. It lands clean and sends Rawlings to the canvas, and VanZant gives her no time to recover. “12 Gauge” pounces with hammerfists, pounding away at the dazed Rawlings’ head until referee Dan Miragliotta stops the fight.

Paige was throwing only conventional kicks in the first round. She did try a spin kick and got nothing but air. So in the second round when Paige geared up for what looked like a right kick, Bec was there to defend. But then Paige switched it and kicked her with the left, and Bec was defenseless. This was great technique.

Paige can compete well with the women ranked from 6-10 in her weight class, but she loses to the top 5. Courtney Casey is an excellent choice for a new booking with her; Randa Markos would be interesting too.

Maybe even Jessica Penne. I had high hopes for her at one point but she hasn't panned out.

Yeah, I think it was just a case of Rawlings getting caught with a flashy kick in what had been a very competitive fight up until that point with Rawlings probably just getting the better of Paige in Rd. 1. PVZ threw a few jumping head kicks in the first round and none looked like landing. Between rounds her corner in fact told her to be more conventional but I guess Paige knows best. Who here wouldn't want to be foot slapped by PVZ?

PVZ vs. Michelle Waterson is a "fun fight" that needs to happen at some stage. Waterson was due to fight Aisling Daly next weekend but pulled out due to breaking a bone in her hand.
