Default Dana White goes off on Conor McGregor storming UFC 223 media day

Rose Namajunas was almost hit in the melee.

Dana White goes off on Conor McGregor's antics during UFC 223 media day at the Barclays Center in New York City, where he attacked a bus with fighters in it.

Smells like fakery.

A bunch of stuff has happened to the Main Event. Tony Ferguson pulled out last week with an injury, so then a bunch of other dudes ended up being slotted to face Khabib. Because of missed weights and other shit, I think we're on like the 4th or 5th option....for a main event. That's total amateur shit right there. You're supposed to have a reliable contender ready to go in the event of a late injury/illness. Shit happens, we totally get it, but the fact that the backups were so fucked up created a real pisser for the guys (like me) who won't buy a PPV until the day of. So, enter Conor and company to stir up a little drama. And then media partner, FS1, has the NY studio spot already queued up for Dana the next morning? How convenient.

No way was this planned. Conor is a Mega Moron. There was no reason for this, but Conor is one of a kind and has gone to another level in becoming one real As&H%l@!!!

Might be a controversial opinion but I really don't rate Conor at all. Guy is good at talking himself up but he's fairly inactive and even his best wins have been marginal wars.

Very bad times for the UFC, both in male and female MMA. Female 135 lbs is dead for a long time, in the 145 lbs there is no competition for Cyborg, 125 lbs is still looking for its direction, and the only reasonable division is 115 lbs. same with male MMA, Conor is a nut case and no other reasons to watch. Khabib disappointed the fans in the last impromptu match. Can Dana turn the UFC around or is the organizational officially in decline? My hunch is for the latter. And Ronda is now doing quite well in the WWE- I guess she is better as an entertainer than an athlete now.

If this was a set-up by the UFC and Fox Sports to sell the PPV, they better make sure their cover-up is 100% air tight. Felonies were committed, people were injured, lawsuits will be filed. If in addition to this there was criminal conspiracy and racketeering which might be exposed by an ambitious prosecutor and politically exploited by an ambitious politician (a younger version of McCain perhaps), then you have something which is an existential threat not only to the UFC, but to legal MMA in the US. It will probably be necessary to throw Connor completely under this bus and make sure he doesn't crawl back out.

UFC 223 was sold out and set a record for live gate at the Barclay's Center in Brooklyn. Most people bought their tickets for ONE fight - Khabib vs Tony Ferguson - that did not even happen, but still...to be able to sell an entire card on the strength of just one fight is pretty good evidence that the company is as strong as ever. Of course, we have not seen the PPV totals yet, but a sellout crowd is normally an indication that people are tuning in at home, too.

For years, only the most hardcore fans were watching the women's 115s, but now that they have a legitimate rivalry at the time and also a marketable champion in Rose, that division is in the best shape right now. They need a real fighter (sorry, Paige fans) to emerge at 125 and looking ahead, the next crop of young fighters will most likely be breaking in at 115-125, such that you may even want a 3rd division somewhere in that range.

And to top it all off, their good friend, Floyd Mayweather, is dropping soundbites about returning to competition in the UFC. Even if it never happens, stuff like that keeps people talking about your brand and that's what keeps the value afloat.
