Review Requests Forum - Really Needed?
Hopefully the title is self-explanatory.
Not for the first time, I nearly sent a reply to a thread in General Discussion pointing out that there's a dedicated Forum for the "I'm having a Session with XXX next month; does anyone have any reviews they can share?" questions. But yet again, I stopped short of hitting the SEND button because I knew it would unnecessarily offend the OP. Also, I'm too lazy to do the audit myself right now. But from the 'Most Recent Post' lists on the home page, it looks like around 80-90% of threads in the Review Requests Forum are identical to those posted in the Session Reviews Forum. Finally - and most bizarrely - Review Requests doesn't always appear in the main page List of Forums (which could explain mis-posts, but obviously not duplicate posts). So - I'm canvassing opinion here. Any similar or opposing views? My own preference would be a merged SESSIONS - REVIEWS & REQUESTS Forum. It could have a simple instruction to users that thread titles should focus on the word 'Review' or 'Request' plus the name of the Sessionist concerned for easy reference. Thanks for reading. |

Re: Review Requests Forum - Really Needed?
Actually, Review Requests is a subforum of Session Reviews forum. It still functions like a separate forum, but the only way to access it is through the Session Reviews forum, unless you use the shortcuts on main page to access individual threads. I personally think it's good to have it separate, so that the Session Reviews forum is clean, and consists of only threads that include reviews.

Re: Review Requests Forum - Really Needed?
OK Zweig,
It looks like just short of 1/3 of threads on the Reviews Forum front page aren't "clean" (eg they consist of review requests without a positive response). But it's your Board and if nobody else is bothered then fine - leave things as they are. As for the Review Requests Forum appearing and disappearing, I think you provided us both with an answer. It must be because it's the only Sub-Forum, so it's probably set at a lower visibility level - as seen below. |
