Default Nancy Skarvan

Nancy was always my favorite wrestler. In age, I'm just a bit older, so she was always a fantasy opponent for me. She was the archtype for what I though girl-wrestlers should be. That is attractive, aggressive, muscular (for then anyway) and more than willing to take on a male in a competitive fight to show she was his equal.

The picture below has always been my favorite of Nancy. The double bicep pose, the expression on her face, the flex of her lats, the deltoids.. She looks like a real "Girl-Stud"
She's a natural fighter and has a natural ability to build muscles. I'd love to have wrestled her or just be her training partner in the Gym.

I agree Nancy would have been fun to wrestle around with. Or should I say would be - I think she is still alive. Hey, I was wondering which of Nancy’s matches did you folks enjoy the most ? I was thinking about getting a few more for my collection. Her matches with Teena are great and I have the one with Jeanie Walters too.

One can only assume that Nancy is still alive. She would be 58 now, having been born on 23rd September, 1959. A couple of years ago she had a Facebook page, but on a Google search now it does not show up, so one can only assume that she had deleted it. I could also not find a Facebook page for either Susan or Lynetta either and they did exist a few years ago.
Much as I admired (and still do) the material that Judell produced, back then I never really developed a favouritism for any particular one of the girls or matches. Maybe that was because then it was the only material I was buying, so I wanted it all - which I have. As time went on and I also started buying from other producers I did develop favourites amongst their girls. Pam at Festelle, Lenka at DWW. That may have been because as the volume of available material increased and it was not possible to buy it all one had to be selective.

John Lennon once said that before Elvis, there was nothing.
And before Judell,there was nothing.

That is an interesting way to look at Judell being the Elvis of wrestling. FYI Elvis enjoyed womenís wrestling allot. He even dated some pro wrestlers.
As the years went by like you guys I enjoyed material That other folks put out there Women Warriors - DWW. I enjoyed watching Vera and Luzia allot.

That's funny, because Elvis was a customer of the Dulongs

I got my information from Penny Banner’s book. Penny went out with Elvis a few times and he watched a few of her matches. Penny was a great person, we traded a few letters when I purchased her book and a few autographed photos.
If I remember correctly, Penny visited the Amazon when it was in California. I don’t think she did any wrestling. Not any video or film matches anyway. I have no idea if Elvis passed before or after her visit to the Amazon.

Yes it would have been late 1981 or early 1982 when Penny visited The Amazon in California. There was a photo set released (Item 256 comprising 60 photos) but no videos. My recollection is that she actually did try her hand at submission wrestling against one of the girls but was not prepared to have it filmed. I have a vague recollection that Penny wrestled Maria Di Mauro.
A little after that pro wrestler Evelyn Stevens visited The Amazon and there was a picture set of her lifting weights (Item 271) released and a pic set and film (Items 272 and 273) released of her wrestling Maria De Leon.

See attached page from Judell's brochure.

I’m Facebook friends with Nancy. She lives in Montana. Still an attractive albeit older woman. Very political.

Added after 8 minutes:

I do think Judell was THE pioneer, but there were companies filming decently competitive female wrestling movies dating back decades. There was a German doctor who started making films in the 20s, possibly during the Weimar Republic. Irving Klaw was producing catfights in the 50s, possibly 40s. Then Peerless came along in the late 50s/early 60s in NY followed by Dvorkin, who opened California Supreme in the early to mid 60s. Milco started up around ‘69 or ‘70 then Judell and Triumph/Sundance and Joan Wise all got off the ground around the same time in the early to mid 70s. Obviously Burke was on the scene. In fact, Judell did her first filmed match for Millie, a mixed bout she won.
