Re: Art history
"Baroque" (circa 1600-1700). Italian for “tortuous medieval pedantry” much like Caravaggio's "Judith"
who first charms an Assyrian general then seizes his sword and decapitates him. Compare today's "Sado-Baroque" where Ms Chambers simply gouges out the eyes; The Flemish painter Antony Van Dyck (1599-1641), developed a graceful but imposing portrait style that was very influential, especially in Ms Chamber's England. Mostly, however, Baroque art was meant to evoke emotion, passion, drama. Like Ms Chambers in this Sado-Baroque collage. ANY QUESTIONS? |

Tsukioka Yoshitoshi (1839-1892), the MASTER of Japanese woodblock prints. Among his finest are
images of "beautiful women" from different social classes. Here, we see the courtesans and geisha assigned to Samurai households in order to develop "good manners, demeanor and posture" (not to mention the occasional assassination). take a look here for more of Yoshitoshi. Re: Art history
For those taking the advanced summer class:
compare works; Baroque female artist Artemisia Gentileschi's version of JUDITH (on the right) shows Judith and accomplice more determined and confident holding down the general then ramming the sword through his neck: Should be noted, Artemisia also painted this one: "Jael drives a tent peg into the brain of Sisera, a cruel Canaanite ruler." for more: [Only Registered Users Can See LinksClick Here To Register] Now compare the Modern Day Judith or Jael. Here, Lexi and accomplish grab the "sword" and JAM it down his throat: (note: this repost of image found in "Forced-bi" thread [Only Registered Users Can See LinksClick Here To Register]) |
