Default What were the toughest athletes you've wrestled?

I was thinking about this and wasn't sure. I've wrestled my fair share of athletic girls, many in college and grad school, but it was hard to say which of the following seemed to be the toughest. Admittedly the sample size for some of these was just 1 or 2, but I did hear about their athleticism relative to their peers.

Swimming
Cheerleading
Gymnast
Tennis
Badminton
Soccer
Volleyball

In terms of simple physicality, I'd actually say the cheerleaders were the toughest. But maybe that was due to the unusual caliber of cheerleaders I got to know. One was on a top nationally ranking team. Regardless, good lord did I learn to respect cheerleader athleticism.

In terms of overall competitiveness, I actually think it was the volleyball girls. Maybe its the nature of their game, but the ones I wrestled all had this aggressiveness that really made it hard to fight them.

What's your experience been?

Gymnasts hands down. I can't say I have a lot of experience, but the gymnast i wrestled was the strongest person I think I've ever wrestled pound for pound.

Think you should add runner in there as well. My wife is a runner and has incredably strong legs which she uses to win a lot

Toughest I've wrestled isn't even on the list. Track athletes. They are the strongest.

Two of the best session wrestlers..Arekah and Severa..were both high caliber basketball players. Not sure if that means anything!

My favorites were the swimmers and volleyball players, based mainly on the body type. I was never really into the gymnast look but they were fun to wrestle and deceptively strong, though you could tell they weren't quite as functionally strong as the others. By that I mean they were awesome doing things that were variations on movements they'd practiced but not necessarily the best at learning new things and applying their strength to them as quick as some of the others.
All that being said, I'm not sure it matters much in the end. I've had awesome competitive sessions with ladies who played common sports at a high level and I've been humbled by bjj black belts who played no sports and were 'unathletic' until they started their training.

I wrestled with this small girl who had played field hockey. Man her legs were strong once she got them around me. Ashamed to say she made me give up many times haha!

I agree I don't think it means much. Girls like Gia Primo who said she was nerdy growing up and Austin Lynn who I don't think took up any sports until late in life both scare me to death. Other girls who can really hurt you in wrestling who I wouldn't imagine played any sports when younger are Lia Labowe and Nikki Fierce.

by far the strongest girl i ever wrestled (relatively small sample size unfortunately) was a national team mountain biker. Her legs were insanely strong. she wasn't terribly skilled but i legit lost to her far more than i won and i had a good 70lbs on her.

If you ever get a chance to wrestle with a competitive cowgirl whether she's a barrel racer, trick rider or have just rode horses her entire life you should definitely do it!
They tend to be feisty in general and have some of the strongest legs I've ever felt wrapped around me, and that's including the session wrestlers I've seen.
