I mean, we are talking about a cut of 5 lbs and she has (almost) all the time she wants for dropping it. I think that for the most amazing, concrete and "truthful" match ever (for both of them !), is a nice "deal"... Obviously, my own view...
140 is not a natural weight-class for Cyborg. I would imagine getting it down to 140 is extremely difficult for her. Past that every pound is a huge struggle. There's only so much you can do before getting some long-term damage.

Not saying that 135 pounds is Ronda's natural weight-class. It's way below that actually. And I'm sure it takes a lot of sweat for her to make it. Take a look at how much skinnier she looks at weigh-ins.

That's normal weight cutting technique. Most fighters walk into the Octagon 10 to 20 lbs heavier than they weighed at the weigh in.

The issue here is that the UFC does not have a 145 lbs weight division for women. So it's not about whether or not Rousey is willing to fight at a catch wieght. There is no catch weight in the UFC for women above 135. If Cyborg can't make 135 then we simply don't have a fight.

Claudia Gadelha who fights at 115, for her previous fight or the one before, tweeted, some time after the weigh-in that she'd gotten back to 140 before the fight!

I know Dana was insisting that Cyborg get to 135 at least once before getting any title shot, since Tito Ortiz, who was her manager, insisted she could die from such a weight cut...

Tito Ortiz: Cris Cyborg 'doing everything possible' to make 135 pounds for Ronda Rousey fight
By Marc Raimondi  @[Only Registered Users Can See LinksClick Here To Register]_raimondi on Aug 3, 2015, 11:00a 253

If a megafight between Ronda Rousey and Cris Cyborg doesn't happen, it won't be Cyborg's fault, according to Tito Ortiz.

Ortiz, a Cyborg advisor and her former manager, said she is doing all she can to make 135 pounds for a UFC women's bantamweight title fight with Rousey, even if that is not the healthiest weight for her.

"Cris is jumping through every single flamed hoop that everybody is asking her to do," Ortiz said last week at a Bellator media day. "And she's trying to get down to 135. Realistically, 140 is still a challenge for her to get down that low. She's gonna try. She's doing everything possible and it seems like Ronda is doing zero possible. She's just sitting back and collecting her checks."

Rousey defended her title by knocking out Bethe Correia in just 34 seconds in the main event of UFC 190 on Saturday night in Rio de Janeiro. There's a good chance her next fight will be a third bout with Miesha Tate late this year or early next. Very few, if any, women's 135-pounders in the UFC have established themselves as contenders after Tate. And there are many people who don't even want to see Rousey-Tate again since Rousey has finished her twice.

Meanwhile, Cyborg is crushing opponents as the Invicta FC women's featherweight champion. She knocked out a totally overmatched Faith Van Duin in just 45 seconds earlier this month. Rousey has won her last two fights in a combined 30 seconds. There's no doubt Rousey and Cyborg are the two best women's fighters in the world -- by a wide margin.

Ronda Rousey to Star in Film Based on Her Autobiography (EXCLUSIVE) [Only Registered Users Can See LinksClick Here To Register]
Frank Pozen's thoughts:

Ronda Rousey to star in her own biopic

Fresh on the heels of Ronda Rousey's 34 second KO of Bethe Correia, today Paramount Pictures announced they have acquired the rights to Ronda's autobiography My Fight/Your Fight and Ronda will star in the film. First of all, that is unheard of. As far as I know, the only athlete to star in his own biopic was Jackie Robinson in 1950. And that was a very low budget film. It looks like Paramount is looking to make a big splash with this picture. They have hired veteran producer Mary Parent who has worked on films like Godzilla and Pacific Rim. And Mark Bomback has been hired to write the script. Among his credits are Wolverine and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. My Fight/Your Fight is a New York Times bestseller and apparently a condition of buying the rights to the book is that Ronda has to star in it. You have to credit her agent Brad Slater of WME for that. That's a risk because though Ronda has crossed over from MMA to the mainstream, she hasn't starred in a film yet. Who knows if she can carry a film? So when these kind of announcements are made, the MMA media overreacts and tries to tell you she will leave MMA for acting. But these idiots don't understand it takes several years to develop these projects. Ronda has appeared in three films in glorified cameos. Her first starring role will be in Mile 22 starring with Mark Wahlberg and directed by Peter Berg. This film was supposed to film in Thailand this fall. But Variety reported today that the filming has been delayed until January so Ronda can fight Miesha Tate in December. The film is scheduled for a 2016 release but it will likely be pushed to 2017. She is also attached to the Warner Bros. film The Athena Project. That was announced last year but there is no script or director yet. There's no release date. Bomback is just starting on the script for My Fight, Your Fight. After that's finished, they have to name a director. And don't be surprised if that director is Berg because of his experience with sports films. Don't expect either of those films to see the light of day until at least 2018 or maybe later depending on which one is ready first. Until then, the studios won't know if Ronda is a box office draw. So if anyone tries to tell you that this is a sign that Ronda is retiring soon from the UFC, that person is full of crap. Retirement is several years away.

Has anyone seen a write up on what UFC/Invicta actually screens for in PED usage in their contracted fighters? Or is the drug screening done by the sanctioning jurisdiction? Or is there both?

If Cyborg / Justio supposed walks around at 170 and 5'8", that sounds a little heavy for a female athlete. That is the same height as Helen Von Mott for example and she was like 140 or so when she was active.

Ortiz shouldn't whine about this. It makes him seem rather pathetic. If Cyborg gets to 135, then it's my opinion that Rousey's camp should give her the fight. The only way Ronda loses credibility is if Cyborg gets to 135, tests clean for 6 straight months, and then is denied the fight by Ronda's team.

But really, what else can Ortiz and Cyborg do but cry that Ronda's running, etc...what do they have to lose at this point?
