Default Are wresting sessions safe?

Like getting headscissored or choked can't be good for your brain surely? I am just worried about any long term effects?

Doubt it, I mean you don't see anybody around here who's survived one do you?

I would say they are as safe as you want them to be. If you’re wrestling and are both experienced enough to know what you’re doing, I think it’s very safe. If you’re tapping out when you’re in trouble, I would not think there is a lot to worry about. But if you are going for knockouts or extreme pain, then that can make it more dangerous.

I’m not a doctor so I don’t know the long term effects of knockouts or how many times it would take to start feeling those effects but it’s not something I am trying to find out.

It’s safe, but it’s important that you communicate with whoever you session with and let them know your limits. Session wrestlers aren’t psychics, they can’t know things you don’t tell them.

Do a little homework, practice common sense, don’t be a jerk, and you’ll be fine.

Safe compared to what? Sky diving? Driving a car? Not wearing a surgical mask on an airplane? All life has some level of risk.

Have about 20 years getting ko -d by kicking wonderful martial artist women. I am ko-d a lot, still. Still alive and getting kicked.:-)
But you need to train at least an hour to your limit daily.

Hello this is my first post and I would like to answer this question based on my experience of 15 years of sessions.

I think it can be as safe or as unsafe as you want. Depends on you. Sure knockouts are bad for your brain. Sometimes I have been knocked out and nothing has happened, but there was one time, with a triangle choke, that I was out for a longer period than normal (i think she was pissed off because I was late), and I had vertigo episodes for months. It is not pretty, doctors don't have magical wands and I wondered if I was ever going to be ok again, or if I was going to die. Now I am fine but I guess it could have gone the other way.

Same with joint locks I guess, if you don't tap out or if you ask for it, bones can break.

I know it is exciting to push the limits, I struggle with it too. Jenni Czech gave me the meanest came clutch of my life, and at the moment I though my back was going to break but I was only sore for a few days. I trusted her and it would not have been such an incredible an amazing session if it wasn't for that.

So, it depends how much you want to play with fire

Depends on the rules and the girl. I tend to go high risk with very few rules and multiple KOs so my sessions are about the riskiest they can get, but that risk is part of the fun for me.
