Well, then the attire (bikinis) would seem to be the thing.
But bikinis are perfectly respectable. Beach volleyball in bikinis is an Olympic sport too, after all.

As far as a "sexual interest," society practically runs on it. Look at advertising!

Yes people often prey on people's sexual interest to get them to pay attention to something or to buy something. Those videos however are created primarily for people to get off to.

As for their attire, yes beach volley ball played outside is often done in swim suits, wrestling generally is not. Those women have little training, yet they are being paid to fight and be filmed while wearing underwear and bunny rabbit ears. They barely looked like they were competing and seemed to intentionally linger on certain holds and positions while really emphasizing the moaning. Everyone watching that video instantly picked up on what that was about.

If she had come in and said, "I recently joined an amateur an wrestling league, heres a video of my first match", and then shown a competitive match and regular attire no one would have batted an eye.

If your point is that the vidbiz is basically sleazy, I certainly agree. That's what I've been saying for years.
The interesting point is exactly how and why it is sleazy, i.e., how does if differ from other forms of wrestling.

Well, I'm on this site because I'm one of the guys who is interested in those videos, though I prefer mvsf matches. So I wouldn't call them sleazy, but they are very clearly created primarily for sexual reasons so its not surprising that the co-workers reacted the way they did, especially since it was probably so unexpected.

I do think the way in which they recruited the new wrestler was kind of sleazy. The owner of the company, very knowingly played down the sexual component of the videos she was making and basically admitted this fact at the end of the documentary. You can tell that the Asian girl feels somewhat taken advantage of. She definitely should have been more upfront with her about it. Some of the other wrestlers seemed almost flat out in denial about the nature of their work.

The co-workers act shocked because it allows them to thereby deny the existence of their own fantasies. Whatever they may be.

Yes yes this! ^ It's all pretty fascinating isn't it? I would like to see more documentaries on this subject.

The Asian wrestler was pretty cool with things though when I wrestled her, she did like the physical element of things, competing against a guy and rolling around. Agreed the pretext may not have been above board, but take it for what you will

I remember the chatter on the C&B yahoo group at the time...Alissa and others felt they were a bit unfair in their portrayal. She said she had talked to Linh who told her how the interviewers steered (badgered) her into saying she felt exploited, even though she really didn't.

This is not surprising for a "reality" show IMO. One reason I never watch them, "reality" is the first thing to go out the window, and sensationalism is the order of the day. I don't even blame them for doing it, it's just the nature of the business. C&B got off pretty mildly, I think. I can only imagine how such an expose might be presented nowadays. White Slavery! Child Prostitution! Terrorism!

It's certainly true that producers of such shows feed on controversy, sensationalism etc.
At the same time, I think the girl's comment was justified, in that she felt she wasn't being taken seriously. Wearing rabbit's ears is tantamount to a declaration, We are not serious wrestlers.

At the same time though, it's pretty mild stuff. Think of the notorious Guenther von Rottensteiner's nude and Hungarian videos! But even so--we must have a controversy!

It's amazing there have not been more documentaries and exposes of the vidbiz.
