It's nice!!! Can you say us more about the girl? Is historical fact?, a legend?, literature? Her name? The place? the age, year, time?

Re: Amazing victory pose statue
Wow, nice find!
I did some research. This statue, which is recent, is located in a town called Niepolomice in the south of Poland. As per the local legend the girl, Justine (Justyna), the forester's daughter, saved the life of Stephen Bathory (16th century King of Poland) by killing a bull that attacked him. Re: Amazing victory pose statue
In order not to create a new topic, I'm changing the name of this one to "Victory pose statues".
Attaching some finds that I have collected throughout the years. Most of them are from Judith and Holofernes and Salome and John the Baptist narratives. If you can find more real world victory pose sculptures, please share. Also worth mentioning is this schoolgirl pin sculpture, one of a kind - [Only Registered Users Can See LinksClick Here To Register] Authors: Donatello Alonzo Dominique Sergei Karpikov Paul Manship Emmanuel Hannaux Eugene-Antoine Aizelin Reinhold Begas Harro Magnussen Corneille Van Cleve German Feoktistov Ivan Korzhev Vladimir Tishin Igor Luksht

Quote:
This statuette is a copy of Giambologna’s famous marble group "Florence Triumphant over Pisa", which stood in the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence. Giambologna designed the group in 1564 for the wedding of Francesco de’ Medici as a companion piece to Michelangelo’s stone sculpture "The Victory", which in the seventeenth century was often also called "The Triumph of Virtue over Vice". The personification of Florence, or an allegory of Virtue, overcomes a man cowering on the ground, and represents either vice or the city of Pisa, according to interpretation. The triumph is expressed by a gesture of physical dominance. [Only Registered Users Can See LinksClick Here To Register] It has been copied many times by different names and for different narratives. The one I attached to the original post is a statuette by a Russian author for sale, and is called Judith. Attaching to this post a photo of the original statue, and of a copy by Soldani Benzi (1701-06), which could possibly be the one that you have seen before. More about the original: This group was commissioned from Giambologna for the Sala del Cinquecento (the Great Council Hall) of the Palazzo Vecchio. In preparation for the wedding of Francesco I and Joanna of Austria, Cosimo I de' Medici had the Great Council Hall in the Palazzo Vecchio decorated with scenes relating to Florentine military triumphs: the marble Victory which Michelangelo had abandoned when he had departed Florence three decades earlier would go against a wall showing the conquest of Siena, and the new statue by Giambologna the wall opposite, which Vasari's team was painting with scenes showing the city's triumph over Pisa.
