Default Mixed Wrestling and height

Hi, I opened this thread because I'm doing research on match where the man is tall and the woman is of medium or low height. Does anyone know any videos that might help me to understand what helps a girl in beating a taller man? ?

There are many videos on youtube where a small woman beats a bigger guy on street fights or in competitions, since I am a grappler/BJJ practitioner I can give you my viewpoint: it depends on the context of the fight, if a real life event on a bar, street etc, I will avoid fighting at all costs (verbal jiu-jitsu) unless I really have to defend myself from an attack, too many variables in a street fight, someone with a weapon or so high on drugs that won't even feel or care about the outcome, or someone with a whole bunch of ''buddies" willing to step in when they see his friend being choked out (many examples on youtube as well). Now in a sports situation, a well trained fighter (specially MMA, BJJ or submission wrestler) will always have the upper hand against an untrained guy (unless he is a beast), My training consist in "knowing " all the options to control and submit ANYBODY from any position: standing, or takedowns to side control , mount , back take etc and defenses, reversals, sweeps etc, in 10 years of grappling I am still amazed at the amount of stuff you can do to someone (Gracie Jiu-Jitsu consist of about 600, yes, 600 techniques, which so far I may be familiar with half !) of course, you also have to keep in mind strength and conditioning and a calm mind to be aware at all times to apply the correct technique with perfect timing and leverage. I have seen a small 15 year old girl, for example, that trains at 10th planet jiu-jitsu destroy higher belt big guys with ease, her name is Grace Gundrum, here is a video of her submitting older, bigger higher belt women with pure technique, calm mind and talent:

Thank you very much .I will observe her style, i think that it is linked to the sense of body awareness. Someone knows how to use it better than others. So the technique coexist with the perception of oneself in the mind of the athlete without problems. A technique is implemented without realizing how it is put consciously .

Hector, to supplement Anji's point, smaller females can beat tall males by giving them a choice: Surrender now, or I put you in a world of hurt.

It involves techniques like bending a joint the wrong way or shutting off the flow of blood/oxygen to the brain.

The bad guy has to either chill or, say, get choked unconscious.

i m 5'3 or 1m 60 you can watch all my competitive mixed wrestling vids to check out what makes them lose
it s still very funny to think men think they make more chance because of height.
yes leverage is an advantage , but being smaller also has advantages believe it or not
and nothing beats skill , not height, not weight

Also keep in mind the saying "speed kills"....Kyla (RIP) was a well regarded sessioner, a blue belt in bjj (but Helen Von Mott ranked her as only a high white belt level, although she thought Kyla had enormous potential, and regretted that she didn't commit more to advancing her skills)...so many guys remarked about Kyla's quickness. I imagine it surprised a number of lumbering big oafs.

Interesting point, this is concentrate the force on a determinate weak point .
Prove that brute force isn't enought in a match.

I must see your video .
I think that people today think too much in quantitative terms and do not care about the quality of the person or his abilities. People are dazzled by reasoning from appearance. In the field of combat sports I think this mentality is also caused by the wrestling that you see on TV, the most commercial. In the entertainment world quality does not make much, otherwise we would not have all the pop porn of the present days.

Yes speed is understimate , especialy in grappling. The guys today are not good fighters, it's not a case. That's a problem , it's a sign that boys are loosing contact with their body .

I fought with a 20-year-old girl, long ago. It was my best fight so far. We went out destroyed, I had to be quick to keep up with her. With today's boys and young men, the risk is falling asleep in the while waiting for you to load the attack.
90% of the cases the technique is coming to you as if they were a truck, then cling to you, then starting to wriggle .

Hector, Brazilian jiu-jitsu techniques perform the same basic function that punches do in boxing.

Concentrating force is central to playing most any sport, whether it's hitting a baseball, tackling an opponent in rugby/American football, or shooting a hockey puck.
