Ouch! Painful if staying on topic in an art or story thread...

Thread necromancing is usually - but not necessarily - a bad thing, depending on the content (which the software cannot evaluate). It's frustrating to open an unread post to find it's just some newcomer saying "Niiiice!!!" to a long-dead topic. But then sometimes it's a whole bunch of fresh relevant material.

So... just an idea and I don't know if it's possible, but how about a warning when posting to a 6 month old topic? Something like "Are you sure you are making a valuable contribution? Forum rules state that topics over 6 months old should not be resurrected unless you have something of value to add - not simply a comment on previous posts." A new rule to that effect would have to be added, I was surprised not to see something similar when I checked the rules again just now - maybe it's already there and I missed it.

I agree with Halfal on the thread necromancy, I only joined in June and at first it seemed like I was always running into threads with nothing but "GREAT THX" as the last post. I mean, I'm glad people are being polite and considerate ... but you get my point ;^P

I mean that's why we have the "Thanks" system right? To show appreciation and gratitude towards helpful posts? I thought it kind of rendered the "AWSUM THX" posts irrelevant, but I've been guilty of posting those myself. :3
