Default Did you ever visit???

One for fans mainly in the U.K.were you an avid fan in the late 80's???If so a recent feature on my blog(femfighteurope.co.uk}will interest them.I discovered a group of videos that were claimed to be of mud wrestling in a West End pub in London. In truth they were recorded at the Jaggie Thistle Scots themed pub in Blackpool and most if not every performance ended with volunteer spectators joining the girls in the mud.Definitely a pioneer in that part of the country so well worth a mention.

Try as I might I can't read what that sign related to.Though I would doubt it related to the americanism of the word fag which in the late 80's would probably have meant someone who was in modern terms gay.In those days in the Jaggie the term would have been queer or much worse. These were the days before political correctness and you were allowed to smoke in pubs.

Sadly no the nearest I ever came was I was in London when after we had passed a group of people a friend said do you know who that was?Apparently we had passed within touching distance of her without realising. That relates back to my thoughts on the girls who took part in those mud wrestling shows.Would you know if you saw one working in your local supermarket?Indeed one girl I have mentioned in my blog I see quite regularly working in a local bank and apart from myself and a couple more people who were involved in the business few realise she was a wrestler.A point I have made to a number of fans who would love their girls to wrestle and the girls always claim they wouldn't like to be recognised.

Looks to me like it says 'Fight Against Government Suppression' ?

Not sure if it means suppression of cigarette smoking or Mud wrestling

My thanks for that you could be right and may be it doesn't even relate to something in England. As the name Jaggie Thistle indicates it was a largely Scots bar outside the weekends and mainly a Protestant one as many photos of the time point to it being a part of the Rangers Supporters Club.

In the late 1970's for awhile there was a bar in northern Toronto that did mud wrestling one night a week. The girls would sometimes challenge guys in the audience to step into the mud ring against them. Usually some drunk would get up and strip down to his briefs. If the guy seemed two competitive then multiple girls would jump in on him. The place was a bit of a dive but the mud wrestling was fun to watch. I only went there a few times but never had the courage to challenge the girls.
