Re: Can a male pro athlete beat a smaller, female pro MMA fighter?
I recall reading years ago that the scene in Gladiator with the woman (women?) shooting arrows at the men was historically inaccurate, they weren't allowed to compete with men like that.

Re: Can a male pro athlete beat a smaller, female pro MMA fighter?
Saw this old posting in the comments section on Rosi Sexton's blog:
Riki September 30, 2010 at 12:11 am No matter who a woman trains with, she will NEVER be as good as any man. Not trying to insult my gender but it is the truth. Rosi Sexton September 30, 2010 at 7:39 am Of course at world class level, women won’t be competitive with men, in much the same way that a decent heavyweight will beat a good lightweight. If, however, you’re saying that a world class woman won’t beat even a novice man at the same weight – then you’re just plain wrong :-) |

Re: Can a male pro athlete beat a smaller, female pro MMA fighter?
Going back to the original post, I think it depends on what sport the male pro athlete plays. Against a 215 pound NFL player, I would probably bet that he beats Ronda. Against let's say, a 170 pound professional tennis player or a 140 pound professional marathon runner, I would bet Rousey (or Holm now) wins pretty easily.

In fighting size and weight are important variables , but only when there is a base of skill. Stating that a NFL player would by default beat a woman is ignoring the skill factor, and years of training. It's like saying that someone is the best at playing the piano because he has beautiful hands. |

But either way, a mma match is different from a wrestling match. A 135 pound female mma fighter, no matter how much more skilled she is, will be knocked out cold with one clean punch from a 215 pound man who is an elite athlete. In a wrestling match, the guy can't end the match by catching the woman with one move. |

I found the post [Only Registered Users Can See LinksClick Here To Register] . I stand corrected about him being a NFL player, (although it doest say he wasn't NFL). You still get what I meant |
