I may be wrong here, but anytime you lose oxygen to the brain by being knocked out, it does some damage
Has to be for 5 minutes or more of no oxygen. Otherwise you'd be getting brain damage every time you just held your breath.

And by the way, I concur with BOTH Desert and Yahoo.
Beign knocked out is dangerous, and yet if it's done properly (check out the work of MA expert George Dillman) it can be "safe"....
The problem is how safe you feel... IS your session pro that good? Much is at stake.
I was the Designated Victim in a vid with a lovely JJ-trained gal, "Y." Before starting the filming for the boss, Y mentioned that she had just sessioned with an elderly gent who wanted to be knocked out in her triangle. Risky.
One longtime NYC pro told me she know "exactly" how far to take a client.
Think about it.... what a leap of faith.
Anyway.... great hearing from so many great gents on these boards.

The real "danger" in any choke is damage to the wind pipe. That can be quite serious. But that danger exists with any choke regardless of whether or not one get's KOed.

A KO from a blood choke is not something that will cause one to lose any brain cells. None. The KO is the result of a trigger in the carotid artery that senses a "drop" in blood flow (not a complete loss which pretty much never happens with a choke) and shuts down the frontal lobe so as to maintain full brain activity in the areas of the brain that regulate life support (lungs and heart) It is not the result of actual oxygen deprivation to the brain. Huge difference. A well executed blood choke will knock you out in 2 to 10 seconds with relatively little pressure. Your brain is hardly starved for oxygen in 2 to 10 seconds of reduced blood flow.

I had to tap within 10 seconds against a 110 lbs pro wrestlers. great fluent technique, know exactly where to apply pressure.

I was bored against a 135 fitness model who *looked* very strong and confident about her strenght.

Its all about knowledge and skills.

There are some positions you can adjust your face into to have your head take most of the softer part of the thighs and all but the most powerful ladies have to really pour the pressure on to make me have to give. There are some that it will be a struggle to last at all, but a good portion of them I can take and fortunately the positioning allows you to take a good face-full of thigh. That isn't to say it will be easy to escape but if the lady is exherting a lot of energy and mercilessly squeezing rather than just containing, her legs will be getting tired too.
