New business idea - catering to session wrestlers
So, as many of us know, there are good people and bad people in this business. There are class acts who are smart and treat customers with respect, and there are those who lack those qualities. see this thread for some background:
[Only Registered Users Can See LinksClick Here To Register] I am also thinking of the thread on here where Julie Squeeze was allegedly asking for money to help with her house, etc This got me to thinking - since we know some session wrestlers have financial problems for various reasons (hell, people in all professions do!), why not market financial advice to these ladies? You could even barter for sessions! I am semi-serious. I have solid investing and financial skills, though I currently lack a CFA or CPA(finance is not my primary profession - more of a hobby and something I learned from family and through experience). Some of these women have big cash flows but no clue how to budget, save, and invest. Someone with the proper credentials should cater to them or even trade advice for sessions. I am completely serious. Bartering may not be super common in the US, but it does happen. My friend is a gourmet chef, for example. He has had people offer to do things like home repair for him in return for cookimg lessons or gourmet meals. Why not the same with session wrestlers? |

Yeah, many of them could probably use such service, considering what you read on Twitter.

Re: New business idea - catering to session wrestlers
I think most of them would find it boring - who wants to speak with a financial advisor Zzzz? It's worth trying though if you have a real interest, but the fact you're not qualified doesn't help...

Re: New business idea - catering to session wrestlers
I don't see this working.
Most session wrestlers will insist on cash. Most businesses would not want to be associated with session wrestling. Financial advice is a particularly bad example IMO. I would expect a financially astute person to be able to afford to pay (rather than barter) for his sessions. |

Re: New business idea - catering to session wrestlers
I'm aware of more than one session lady who has somebody with a finance background among their long-standing clients and does this more or less.
I'll take issue with the idea that there is a lot of money coming in that needs to be dealt with in a smart way. To be sure, there are a few ladies for which this is the case, some sell out their spots weeks in advance and know they have a deep waiting list should anything come up. But for many cash flow is tenuous, just like for most everyone else these days. It only takes 1 or 2 guys not showing up on a trip for them to go home with only a few hundred dollars in their pocket or even worse. |

Re: New business idea - catering to session wrestlers
I actually sessioned with a very popular wrestler who told me a wrestling client of hers actually became her financial advisor. it was his profession. It was not a barter arrangement. He continued to session with her and she continued to invest with him.

Re: New business idea - catering to session wrestlers
I'm curious what investments you would advise, since most of these girls, I imagine, would only have a few thousand dollars, at the most, to invest.
It would hardly seem worth it to employ a "financial advisor" |

Your heart is in the right place - I mean, who wants to see a provider you've loved and enjoyed for 20 years struggling financially in her senior years? - but living hand-to-mouth generally limits the scope of one's financial planning.
