Lots of time left but, in my experience, these polls don't shift a lot once the initial preference becomes clear. I'm a bit surprised the support for Nunes?Shevchenko 3 is that strong, but there it is. I think a lot of people felt Val won that fight.

If Nunes is out for 6+ months I think the whole division simply needs to get active and sort it out among themselves and have a clear #1 challenger by the time she's ready to return.

It sounds completely made up. Bloggers and radio people do that all the time, hoping to create juicy click-bait. I haven't heard any groundswell of fans even suggesting a desire for an immediate rematch, but there are MANY who consider the Shevchenko-Nunes matter unsettled. This is true even among some of the fans who feel Nunes did win the latest edition. I have not yet seen the PPV numbers, but IF both stay unbeaten, I bet they could do at least 90-93% of the total in a year from now, regardless of the rest of the card. If she does not lose, Shevchenko is not going to be *less* of a draw in summer 2018.

Ariel Helwani made a good point this week that a lot of fans are probably still harbouring resentment towards Nunes for the July cancellation.
Precisely. They do not recognize Nunes as the legitimate champion, and they will definitely work overtime to keep the fire stoked.

Many of MMA's top writers are saying that, whatever anyone thinks, this wasn't a robbery and Shevchenko didn't do enough.
Wow, many of the top writers are agreeing with me. Maybe I should rethink my position...or get a new gig.

I don't agree, I think she did do enough but the question is, should Shevchenko hang around at 135 for a year or longer in hopes the stars will align for another crack at Nunes or should she move to 125, where she could well be on the fast track to a title shot? For us diehard Shevchenko fans, that might be a better move for those of us who are dying to see her with a belt around her waist.
TOTALLY fair call. I think she is fully capable of winning at 135, but there is a part of me that would like to see her as the UFC's inaugural champion at 125. How is the contender series shaping up for that division at present?

Hard to say as the top contenders, aside from Roxanne Moddaferri, have yet to fight. Barb Honchak's the fave, Lauren Murphy's probably right behind her.
