I hope I'm wrong, but I suspect that people will stop the choking-unconscious crap only when someone dies or suffers permanent damage.

Amazing that so many people apparently don't understand the risks they're taking.

Anji, I understand if you don't believe me when I say this, but I can't even watch videos of things like that.

I hope that he didn't suffer any permanent damage.

We may never know this, but I'd wonder how that referee got his job. Brazil obviously needs to investigate that.

You can feel absolutely certain that he did suffer significant brain damage. Anything else is... impossible, especially since he 1) most likely had quite a significant oxygen debt, and since he (I presume) 2) didn't breath during his KO, which led 2 higher and higher levels of Co2 and ever decreasing O2-levels. So cerebral hypoxia, lactic acid build up to..90 seconds, perhaps metabolic acidosis, and I suppose at that level they know how to put pressure on the arteries, so when he goes out, it's from brain ischemia, for 90 seconds.

Read this, which happened after 32 seconds: [Only Registered Users Can See LinksClick Here To Register]

Every second is (can be) of critical imortance, but exacly how quick the damage becomes irreversible (the brain is, as this case shows, very good at staying alive, and the quick KO (long before actual, final deah) may be a survival mecanism in which....no it's enough, when I was going to find a source for this, I found: (from weird soft porno to [Only Registered Users Can See LinksClick Here To Register]

He is lucky to be alive, 2 be honest. Referee should go to prison for 3-6 months (ONLY in my subjective opinion).

That said: he can (hopefully!) live happily ever after.

Hopefully he's ok and doesn't need much in the way of therapy to recover.

If Brazil fails to deal with their referee issue, I would think they could have trouble attracting boxing or MMA events from foreign promotions.
