Re: Mackenzie Dern
I totally agree. I want to be a fan of hers because I love her submission style. But to miss by seven pounds? Ridiculous!!!!

Re: Mackenzie Dern
Dern is a disgusting weight cheater, but the real problem is the UFC. They need to crack down on weight gaming the way they have on doping. As for Dern, I'm looking forward to anyone giving her the beatdown she deserves.

Re: Mackenzie Dern
Dern's opponent, ABC, is pretty hot. I'd be happy to do a consolation session with her and promise not to use my 115 pound weight advantage.

Re: Mackenzie Dern
No doubt Dern needs to get her conditioning/professionalism in order, but the loathsome, venomous comments I've been reading online are a little over the top, IMO.
Between missing weight and her evolving accent, MacKenzie seems to have aroused a lot of ill-feeling amongst fans. But it is hardly without precedent. Like I said, top fighters like Kelvin Gastelum, Anthony Pettis, Anthony Johnson have all missed weight in the past. Gina used to miss weight. Even the WMMA goat Cris Cyborg once missed weight, coming in at 152 for a 145 fight. She simply needs to embrace the hard weight cut or move up to 125. She is still an exciting fighter to watch and you have to respect her skills. She has legit world class BJJ. |

Re: Mackenzie Dern
All the controversy with weight aside, I feel like this has to be a very humiliating loss for Amanda. She talked a lot of trash before the fight. She boasted that she has 15 years of striking experience and that Dern is one-dimensional and only good on the ground and how she is going to light her up on the feet...
In Amanda's own words, "I've got 15 years of striking experience on Mackenzie. If she's getting the better of me on the feet, there's something wrong." Then in the fight Dern did in fact get the better of her on the feet and ultimately dropped her in embarassing fashion. Amanda was clearly hurt before the fight even hit the ground and still looked dazen and confused after the fight was over from the beating Dern gave her... mostly on the feet. I wonder how humiliated and frustrated she must have felt when she came to her senses. She shouldn't have talked so much trash, Dern gave her a big lesson in humility. |
