Rest in peace, Johnny!..
@[Only Registered Users Can See LinksClick Here To Register] just posted that @[Only Registered Users Can See LinksClick Here To Register] has passed away...
It's incredibly sad news. Johnny was a tremendous guy, always thoughtful, insightful, helpful. For many years he selflessly operated the Sheri Whitlow yahoo group, which was one of the largest communities back in the day dedicated to the history of our scene, to keeping it alive and passing it on to the newer generation. When the group closed down about 3 years ago, I created the Pioneers subforum for him. He even suggested its name. He was its moderator. Let's take this moment to appreciate Johnny D's input to the community. He had a generous heart. Unfortunately, I didn't know Johnny as close as I'd want to. @[Only Registered Users Can See LinksClick Here To Register], you knew him better than anyone here, I believe. We would all appreciate if you could share some of your memories. My thoughts and prayers are with his close ones... You will be missed, Johnny!.. |

Re: Rest in peace, Johnny!..
We were emailing just last year sharing some Judell and other stuff. Enjoyed my contacts with him. Sorry to hear this. Didn't seem like he had any major health issues going on at the time but who knows. RIP Johnny.

Re: Rest in peace, Johnny!..
He was a prince of a guy, just a really decent, down-to-earth fellow. Another poster who comes here on occasion knew him very well on a more personal (rather than Internet and video trades; I remember getting those packages from Sydney, Australia) level and may want to say something; maybe not. Johnny had an incredible collection of vintage wrestling photos. He loved the stufff Judell Dulong produced, and IMO it was indeed the best, at least until DWW came along. I always looked forward to corresponding with him and checking out whatever he had posted because I knew it would be top-quality. He will very much be missed. One of the best guys I've come aross in this hobby or whatever we call it.

Re: Rest in peace, Johnny!..
The internet has created such "instant gratification" with mass access.
It's really not that many years ago that we longed for this, and yet I do miss the "Silver Age" (of which I might cheekily call myself a part).... JD was a bona fide "Golden Ager," and my hat is off to him, and his contemporaries, who launched this rocket. Requiescat In Pace, A. |

Re: Rest in peace, Johnny!..
I am stunned. I took it he was fairly young, though didn't know him well. He always would recognized me and my postings and my various names and sure we probably crossed paths all the way back to The Combative Woman's site (Barb's introduction to female wrestling by a woman, who was able to explain it to women why people did it and the allure).
I too was a member of the Yahoo site and looked forward to all he posted, as the site became a plce to discuss Judell, Beatrice & the other pioneers. Anyone who was interested in wrestling in the 70's-90's knew Johnny and looked forward to his contributions & insight. My condolences Last edited by mypredilection; 18-Dec-16 at 13:14. |

Re: Rest in peace, Johnny!..
Where is everyone? A real loss and sad so few have posted.
Wish Sheri's site was still there to review the pictures and the many posts and insight Johnny added. Last edited by mypredilection; 21-Dec-16 at 00:03. |

It's at times like these that you wish you had met someone and Johnny was one such person.I had contact more than once through my blog and often his thoughts on the forum led me to feature different styles. The only saving grace for many of us is that the internet as made the world a lot smaller place for fans with a shared interest.RIP Johnny!!!!
