As much as I like Pacquiao I don't think he stands much of a chance. Since he's gone into politics, or at least what passes for politics in his native country he hasn't been the same fighter. He got worse in his last two fights with Marquez to the point he got KTFO by JMM last time they met.

Mayweather is still money, and damn hard to hit. I'd give Pac Man the edge in power even if he's the smaller man, but Manny has lost all movement and I think his timing is off. It is funny as much as I think Freddy Roach is the best boxing trainer in the world today I was struck by watching one of his later fights last night on youtube. The commentators noted that Roach had lost a lot of his movement, and seemed to have forgotten how to jab late in the game. Truly Pacquiao is his trainer's pupil.

Mayweather did a good job of making everyone believe he really wanted this fight to happen when in reality he stalled it until Manny got distracted by politics and got knocked out in a big fight. Money is a coward; he has fastidiously avoided, throughout his career, getting into the ring with anyone who has even a shadow of a chance of beating him, but his career will be marked with big names he's beaten because he waited until they were too old and slow or too distracted to run after him long enough in the ring to beat him. He has never, ever fought a great fighter in his prime, not once, and knows if he ever did he would be exposed as a runner who cannot punch - his knockout rate is a testimony to that. I do not believe if he felt there was even the smallest chance Manny could beat him this fight would be happening, so don't expect much of a fight on fight night if it happens at all.

rcress232,
I just have to reply to your post and tell you that you are talking B/S. I am new to this forum and am aware of the rules preventing members from being abusive to other members. That said, my use of the term B/S, is not a personal insult, just merely about what you are saying----I hope that you take note of the caveat, and are not offended.
Both are great fighters ( although I don't think that either would have lived with Roberto Duran ). I think that it disrespects Mayweather, to infer that he was a serial "sidestepper". He wasn't. I'll take Mayweather by late stoppage. There, I've given my opinion. No "what if's, "if it had been 5 years earlier", etc). Mayweather by late stoppage.

You are absolutely correct about how they stack up with Duran. Duran never ducked anyone, and never ran in the ring.

While I agree that he is fighting like a coward (his fights with Maidana show that very clearly, especially the second fight), I do not agree that he didn't fight great names. Marquez and De La Hoya are some of the greatest names one can fight.

The "HANDS OF STONE" was a great fighter who was broke so he fought way out of his prime so many do not remember what a great fighter he was. Floyd barely beat Oscar who was out of his prime. He beat the great Oscar but out of Oscars prime.
