Jean de Boulogne, called Giambologna, is a French sculptor who worked in Italy in the XVI century.
One of his statue remember the victory of Florence against the rival town of PIsa. The historical fact is represented as a young powerful woman outwrestling an ol herculean man. The man appear humbled and angry to be defeated, as he realized he has lost his honor in front of a large crowd, too old to be competitive even agains a woman. She appears cool and confident, and doesn't hide a look of contempt to her submitted opponent.
Probabily the sculptor was inspired from a real fight of a young woman against an old man, that he had seen during a folkfeast in his childhood in a village near Boulogne.
