Default Re: Veteran Joan defeats male debutant

Match 8 saw veteran comedy actresses Annette and Liz team up to take on Irish twins John and Edward or Jedward.

The old timers looked a pretty weak partnership as Annette a feisty scot in her seventies had won only once in her last dozen singles matches while Liz Smith was semi retired and hadnt wrestled in a while.Their opponents were hard to evaluate as their only bout to date had seen them crushed 6-0 by Romanian tag team The Cheeky Girls but this looked a much easier task and the eccentric Grimes boys had to do better here.

Jedward were first in the ring both in green trunks the crazy hair crazy guys seemed to have crowd support. Then the Golden Oldies entered both in royal blue leotards and boots Smith probably the heaviest of the four fighters enjoyed banter with the fans while her Scottish tag partner was more serious. She was smaller but did yoga and keep fit and was still an active wrestler in the lightweight division.

The Irish team had shown next to no ability on debut but at least began here on the attack as John put a headlock on Annette. The grey haired Scot though escaped the hold neatly and put a hammerlock on the younger wrestler. He ran for the ropes and then tagged in Edward as a bemused Annette had a fresh opponent just seconds in.

Neither brother could trouble the feisty lightweight lady and her vastly superior skill saw her being applauded by her partner as she dominated both brothers alternatively in a one sided opening round.

The irish duo looked to have so little ability they were even struggling at this lowly level and Annette was looking fluent and bossing things. However it was her tag partner Liz who made a dramatic entrance as after Crosbie had body slammed John to the canvas and he lay flat on his back groaning she shouted to Annette to tag her in.

The scots lady did so and Liz climbed in and immediately used a Big Splash on John. She landed with a heavy thud on the pop star and though his legs kicked wildly Lizs curvy frame was laid across his chest and she easily held for the pin to register her first fall for 6 years just 6 seconds into her ring return.Incredible stuff though she hugged her tag partner and thanked her for the set up for the pin.

The two veterans used their experience to great effect as they controlled the match at their own pace taking breathers tagging each other in regularly and using holds that required little agility or speed keeping Jedward on the canvas for long periods.

The twins were pretty abject and though they did battle away and keep trying they were heading for defeat by the 5th as the slick little Scot who had run the show for her team got hwr reward with a neat Folding press pin over Edward.

Liz for her part used body checks and power moves when she was in the ring and had a couple of chances to heap further humiliation on the woeful Irish tag team after a clothesline set up another splash chance but the pin was averted as a desperate fingertip touch of the ropes by Edward saw him survive.Liz also had a boston crab on John but this time he crawled to the ropes to also avoid falling further behind.

It had been a very easy win for the Golden Oldies though and they deservedly did get a third fall in round 8 as Annette again was too clever and skilful for John and after applying a painful looking bow and arrow on him he submitted to his brothers dismay.

Annette kicked her opponents back leaving him face down on the canvas while her tag partner Liz came in and the duo stood either side of the referee as he raised their arms and declared them the winners of the match by 3 falls to 0.
