Post does anyone miss competitive matches?

*Hypothetical*

Would you donate (x) amount of dollars to entice women from around the world to compete in an annual competitive wrestling tournament? You would be able to view a live stream if you donate.

Rules:
allowed: submission by 10 second pin, neck scissor, body scissor *only*
not-allowed: pulling guard, joint locks, leg locks

$1, $5, $10, $20

Nope.

I've never really been a fan of competitive stuff, despite attending a fair few live events over the years. I guess I like the idea of it, but the application rarely lives up to the... well, the fantasy.

In my experience, competitive matches are just kinda dull. There are rules (and rightly so - it's real, so nobody wants to see anyone actually get hurt). Matches are often slow and opponents too well matched, thus leading to a whole lot of effort but a big lack of spectacle. They're too friendly (for the most part), with opponents often smiling and laughing between rounds. The action can be restricted in terms of what holds/moves might be used (as in your own quite specific example). And even when a hold is applied, an opponent will almost inevitably tap out quickly and the hold will be released. Add to all that, at all those live events I was attended, I never really completely enjoyed myself because I generally spent the duration of most matches hoping that nobody would get hurt.

Don't get me wrong. At the end of the day, it's all about different opinions and all of us having different tastes under the umbrella of our wider fetish. But as you asked the question, I thought I'd share my thoughts on why I have little-to-no-interest in competitive wrestling. Whether my opinion represents a wider feeling amongst wrestling fans, I don't know. Your question suggests that there is less competitive action around today than there was in the past. It's not something I've noticed, but that's probably due to my own lack of interest.

I think the same. Competitive matches do not fulfill my fetish, but they appeal to me because they show a realism that many scripted matches lack. First, they tend to show next-door-type contenders in a real struggle, while scripted ones tend to show impossible matches (super thin girls against muscular guys, bodybuilders, porn bodies (fake boobs, fake lips, etc.) and limited action. Not all of them, of course, but it seems to me like the most sexual matches (sexy holds, masturbation, etc.) show less intense, less realistic and shorter struggles.

The reasons I think this would help the industry.
- the same women do videos all the time and yes, they become too friendly.. offer a big pot and you'll get some women who do mma entering but with fetish rules
- Choosing certain restrictions keeps the pace of the matches moving, i.e. restricting guard
- This may actually entice some women in the industry to learn how to actually wrestle

Wow, MDWrestle, I have started planning such an event earlier this year already. Possibly to be held in Sep, 2016. Rear naked chokes will be prohibited as well.

I am not going to publish more details until this is final though.

But yes, if anyone else does such a tournament, I would be willing to donate $20 and more to help make it happen. However, I don't believe such a structure would work. Drop me an email if you want to discuss this further.

I'll shoot you an email. It is pretty cool you're taking the initiative for something like this. I think the wrestling scene needs to take a new direction.

I'm not sure where you're looking but there is a good amount of competitive content out there.

There is "competitive" and then there is competitive. I have not seen a truly competitive match in a long time. In those videos the girls usually go 70% or less. For example, look back at electra vs devon and electra vs cheyenne jewel. It was supposed to be "competitive" but electra went at it 100% and it pissed the two of them off. The girls need more $ from producers to entice 100% competitive, however with all the pirating producers are getting less $ now days to cover the overhead.

Well to me, competitive by default means 100%. While there is a decline in competitive wrestling, like I said before there is still a good amount of competitive content out there which I have had no trouble finding.
