Hey, the Candidates is on. And in my country!

After 3 games for everyone +1 Fabi and Nepo, -1 Radja and Ding, and even the others.

I think the most remarkable facts of that 3 days is how Ding was crushed on the opening round, and Naka's defense against Alireza.

I miss Anish on the board, and Fabi seems to be the one that is playing best. Maybe there were not fireworks on his game against Naka, but it was smooth.

Naka is trying to act like he doesn't study much and doesn't take chess seriously anymore. I'm not sure it's genuine to still compete at this level.

If Naka had played 39. Be8 if would be the game of the event. He player so nicely up to that point.

Impressive.

Anish is priceless.

In the recap video of yesterday's round

"Divine understanding, Nh1 ... only Hikaru and some other big streamers can do that"

Yes. Be8 was near game over, it wasn't a compueresque line, and he've got time. It's still a pretty good game, as to my ponit of view, Nake never throw away the win, but with that, it will be one of the best games of the decade.

Edit: Petrov in Fabi-Nepo. Solid one, but Fabi is the top class player that win more games with white against that opening.

i would think of rook f7 - f5 as a proper way to defend...but of course there's the winning bishop e3 as wiritten in the report.
anyway, he won afterall, still a good match!
