Women's amateur Boxing is definitely better. But women's pro-boxing is completely a joke while in comparison to Men's Pro-Boxing, I get that Women's Pro-Boxing doesn't get as much media attention, but look at the fighters.
Anything female-pro boxers can do to rise? Or will it constantly be over-shadowed? |

Same with women's football and almost all sports, its typical stereotyping and almost a taboo to rate women better than men at anything athletic which is pure BS imo. Blame the media if you want to blame anyone.

They haven't fought though so you can't make that contrast. Plus men are by nature physically stronger than women. I don't follow boxing much so maybe I'm talking crap. But boxing is full of rules, a winner in a ring might lose outside of it, who is the better fighter then?

I know those names from the media but haven't watched them fight so I don't think my opinions are valid here. Perhaps they have been trained better and professional trainers lean towards male fighters becuase it brings in the big bucks, talkin millions for big fights, u dont see that kinda money floating around female boxers

Its not only about Women Pro Boxing in almost all sports the level of performance of male and female sportsperson are very different. A sports aficionado will always watch the men play as the level of performance is much higher. For e.g. if you discount for the visual factor will you watch a Federer vs Djokovic/Nadal match or Serena VS Sharapova match (Tennis is one the most popular and recognisable women sports), from a purely sporting perspective the women's match wont rise to the level as the men's. Same is true for football, Boxing, wrestling, cricket and any other sports, except probably chess (if we can call it sports). And I dont think this difference can be wiped out until you make only the women bionic

I would say that womens boxing hasn't evolved as much. When did it start, the 90's? So the 2000's were it's infancy stages. It's still not a big hit with women so don't expect any dramatic improvement but sports evolve once they become popular and the next generation grows up trying. Look at how much the UFc improves in the 2000's as opposed to the 90s. and that was a more popular sport with more participants, so womens boxing is going to progress slower.

Don't forget, women's boxing is now in the Olympics. Women's wrestling has been in since 2004.
But it takes time to catch on. No American girl has yet won the gold medal in wrestling (or boxing, so far as I know). But when that happens, you can be sure it will lead to more popularity of the sport in this country. |
