And if Robby fought daniel, he would lose. Robby got one shotted by Johnny. When johnny and daniel fought, they were on par

In universe, johnny and daniel are far above the teens
Look the same? lol. Robby and the other "teens" are jumping on tables, bouncing off walls and going at a much faster pace that requires much more athleticism and level of fitness.

Of course in the show Daniel would beat Robby.

But don't let a TV show delude you into thinking Ralph Macchio would have any chance against Tanner Buchanan in real life. It wouldn't even be a contest, it would just look sad and also end very badly for the old and frail (albeit it youthful looking) Macchio.

Tanner Buchanan:

Fights are not won by athleticism or endurance or even strength.
Technique and strategy is way more decisive.

Someone with actual training knows better how to leverage their resources and negate the other person's attacks.
That is true for everything in both striking and grappling.
That is why a tiny Floyd Mayweather can handle Logan Paul.

And why small female grapplers can beat larger males.

Unless Rosie Huntington has just as much training in martial arts and the athleticism to pull it off she does not stand a chance in hell against Statham.

I didn't mention Rosie/Jason in the post you quoted and already said I'd give Statham the benefit of the doubt for now.

But I don't agree that fights can't be won by size/strength/athleticism.

As I've gone through life, one thing I've learned is that some people can do/practice something for a long time and still not be particularly good at it. Think of builders, tradesmen and shoddy work. Some of it is lackadaisical attitude, but some of it is also just plain lack of talent/ability.

It's the same in sport. If you've got bad genetics and bad lifestyle habits (low levels of general fitness, poor diet), your starting point is much lower as is your ceiling of potential.

I have seen many times size, strength, athleticism and youth trump experience. Youth is very hard to compete with for people 50+. It's not because they've accrued injuries, it's because they're too bloody old!! You're more likely to injure yourself through exertion when you're older and injuries are harder to recover from. Everything gets harder, physically, as we get older.

You don't need to give him the benefit of the doubt. It's a foregone conclusion

My uncle is a labourer and hes 55. I remember when he demonstrated his strength to me when I asked him to. He grabbed a hold of my closed fist and nearly crushed it by squeezing. Immense strength and I felt utterly helpless.

I can only imagine what would happen if he did that to a smaller woman. I'm 6ft 2 myself.

It's not necessarily a foregone conclusion if Statham's hips are stiffening up and he is suffering with back, knee, shoulder mobility issues. It might not even be causing him pain, just lack of mobility. Look at Evander Holyfield. Still in great shape for his age, but falling over trying to throw meaningful punches. People might try to say he has brain damage, injuries, but it's also the case that he doesn't have the mobility anymore due to age. He hasn't forgotten how to fight. He KNOWS how to throw meaningful punches, it's just that his body cannot do the things it used to or perform in the way he wants it to anymore.

A 20 year age gap cannot be overlooked or completely dismissed. It's a big factor for sure.

Ultimately that's one example you have. These things are often relative to the people involved. Maybe he's not that strong, maybe you're just weak. Squeezing someone's hand is hardly a great demonstration of athleticism, fighting ability anyway. If he did that to a woman, she would probably just bite him or isolate a small finger, bend it back to break free.

I can sit here and tell you about the production floor at the company I work (in publishing) and how some of the Eastern European girls in their 20s are outperforming dumpy, struggling guys in their 50s... Same at places like Amazon warehouses. It's a young person's job. On their feet all day, working at a faster pace, lifting and carrying all day. Youth is very difficult to compete with.

I see lots of road/construction/maintenance workers. Guess what. They are mostly aged 20-45. By the time you get older, you want to be managing, delegating. Leave the hard graft for the young'uns.

Ultimately this is really just common sense. Nothing to do with fetishism. It's sad to see 50-60+ year old guys struggling in these kind of environments.

A few weeks ago I watched a father in his mid/late-40s run out onto the local park to have a kick about with his kids. Almost immediately a 10-12 year old put the ball through his legs, he was so slow, cumbersome and awkward. A few seconds later, he fell and hurt his ankle and was hobbling off the grass.

I'm definitely not weak. I've completed in boxing and work out 5x a week. Hes just that strong. I'm in my 20s too.

Anyway evander is not a good example. He has taken a lot of punishment over the years. He had slurred speech for years.

Evander would destroy rosie it's not close.

As for statham v rosie, shes not strong. Ask any woman what they think of that fight and they would say statham wins.

Most people here agree Statham wins but just saying it doesn't make it fact.

Only a Sith deals in absolutes!

No one would believe a 12 year old girl could beat an 18 year old man in wrestling. Or a 14 year old beating a 25 year old.

If you showed a picture of these 2, everyone would have bet on the guy based on not only gender, but also his physique, muscle and implied strength. You would no doubt have claimed it a no brainer, a foregone conclusion.

Strength is only one factor. Movement, athleticism and skill often tend to be more important.

Yeah but nothing provided on this thread suggests that rosie is extensively trained. This is the issue. Those 2 in that pic have likely trained in martial arts

Statham has actually trained in martial arts for decades

Training and experience makes all the difference.
An injured purple belt can outgrapple pretty much everyone his/her size who has no grappling training.

Athleticism only matters when folks sorta have the same kind of technical skills.

Statham is a lifelong athlete with decades of training in martial arts and doing fight choreography.
His partner does not seem to have any of that training.
