Default Politics on sites

I’m unsure if I’m being intolerant here? but I go to the sites we all enjoy for a little fantasy fulfilment, a get away from all the nonsense in the world. I expect (maybe wrongly) that politics, virtue signalling and trials by social media don’t play a part in my visit.

I’ve found though that certain sites and SM accounts (won’t name them) insist on thinking I’m stupid enough to swallow their views and opinions. I’d much prefer they stick to what they do, in fact it’s got so bad with one producer on Twitter that I no longer follow them, and will refuse to spend any money on their products ever again, which is a shame because I’ve been a fan since they appeared.

I’m not a mechanic so I wouldn’t dream of telling one how to fix my car. So why do people who produce what is essentially soft core porn insist on insulting and belittling police officers on SM, when they’ve never themselves spent a day doing that job?

That was a rant, and I’m not known for it so I apologise. I just wanted to see if anyone else shared my view?

Here in the U.S. one sports reporter calls sports "the toy store" versus the real world, a place to escape. I feel the same way about sites, performers and producers involved in male vs. female wrestling, domination and female bodybuilders. Even if I AGREE with their political views, I don't need to hear it.

However if there is news about how some new regulations may impact my enjoyment, which is not political opinion but NEWS, then I welcome such information.

If its relevant then yeah I've no issue with that. But the things being posted about aren't, and in some cases the site is making inflammatory comments and are clearly pushing their own agenda. In fact to my knowledge, at least one incident is still the subject of an ongoing investigation, and sadly SM and the mainstream media can influence outcomes as we've seen.

I am of a certain political persuasion (a conservative-leaning centrist with a visceral disdain for political correctness, quota-based forced diversity in entertainment (movies, tv, music, etc.) , and a dislike of leftist virtue signaling).

That all said, I *do* prefer my entertainment to be politics-free, as much as possible, regardless of the political message being pedaled. Not including politics in one's advertising and business messaging used to be the NORM for just about any for-profit company. The classic though process was "Why alienate any segment of a paying customer base at all, just be as politically neutral as possible."

I happen to agree with that classic "alienate no-one" philosophy, but the playing field has changed somewhat. Companies realize they can take a "stance" on various issues, and still be profitable. There are also enlightened corporate leaders that believe in socially responsible business practices.

As far as session providers, there is some sort of synergy between aspects of feminist philosophy and something I would term "sex workers rights". There are divergent opinions within the overall feminist community, but there is a certain brand of feminism that also advocates women have the right to sell sexual services and this is liberating/empowering rather than demeaning. That, I think, is why you will see session wrestlers also being political activists of sorts.

I can kinda see the view point of sex-workers rights advocates. Prevailing laws push sex workers (even session wrestlers) to the margins of society...the whole thing is frowned upon if tolerated by government and law-enforcement (at best), and thus these jobs are high-risk (both in terms of risk of physical or non-consensual sexual violence as well as being arrested or sued).

I also prefer to keep political discussions away from my entertainment.

Having said that, I'm not so naive that I don't know there are certain religious groups in the US who would love to see websites like Male v. Female dot org shut down. Eternal vigilance is the price we all must pay in order to protect freedom and liberty from both the far-right and the far-left.

Complains about virtue signaling...by virtue signaling. I see what you did there - brilliantly played, old chap.

I'm sure there is a safe space for you somewhere on the big, bad internets. See what I did??

The breakdown: The vast majority of people who will ever interact with your post on this site probably won't give a shit about your politics (or mine! lol). I make that statement based upon a preponderance of the evidence available to all visitors. And to be clear, I don't care either - I'm responding to the virtue signaling, because I thought it was a cutesy and respectable troll job. The vast majority of companies you buy products from don't give a shit about your politics either. They just want your money, not your feelings. If they provide a good product at a price you like, they've done their job. If they choose to associate their brand with politics (of any stripe) and that's a turn-off to you, then you are making the conscience choice to withhold/move your business because the value of their product does not outweigh the negative value of their business' politics. We talk of "feelings", but ultimately, it's just math and measure.

All that said, customers do have the ability to transact with companies without engaging with them on social media. Not a mandate, just an option for anyone to consider.

Best.

I guess you could say I was virtue signalling if you didn’t like my post, another view could be I was asking your opinion. I can see that albeit you’re trying to hide it with humour, I’ve hit a nerve. That wasn’t my intention. I was very reserved in my comments here, but the reality is that on other forums I’m far less reserved on particular subjects, and I’d not get much use out of a safe space.

The breakdown : you basically repeated what I’d said, you understand what I was getting at, but you just wanted to take the long way around to say it in an attempt to make me look trollish. You seem very defensive.

I use Social Media to keep up to date with sites and producers, its probably the best advertising tool available, it’s not there to push an agenda.

Is that like 'Complaints about trolling...by trolling:'

Normally I like reading your interesting posts. And of course, your main point here is a good one - being that producers don't give a toss about your politics or theirs, they just want your money.

But nobody was trolling here. And the OP's question seemed genuine. Whether or not you agree with everything he said, there was no need to jump in with what is clearly an unnecessary and - as far as I know, uncharacteristic - personal attack. It does you no credit at all, and I'm sorry to have to say that.

I hope you wake up feeling less grumpy and spiteful tomorrow; I for one would prefer to have the 'old' you back.

I like the above statement, and I agree with it in principle. The fringes...either fringe (extreme left and extreme right) are equally a "turn off" to me personally (and I assume to a lot of 'moderates')

Another poster mentioned something which I take to mean "If you don't like a company's (or session provider's) political messaging, you can either chose to buy their product regardless, or you can decide to withhold your patronage.

That is 100% true, and it is true that it is a value-judgement. I can't think of a time that I felt so strongly about any political stance that I actually boycotted a product or service being provided just because of the provider's political messaging. But that's just how I roll. Other people may feel differently.
