This is very interesting. It looks like she is victorious over a pile of broken men. Thanks Naji.

Default Florence Triumphant over Pisa by Giambologna

Hi everyone,

I wondered in what section post this. Then, "Art" struck me as the very obvious choice

I was in Firenze recently, and I visited the Palazzio Vecchio. Among the masterpieces, my breath was taken away by that huge sculpure. The city of Firenze (or Florence) is represented by this young, strong and beautiful woman. She is putting an old man (the city of Pisa) in chains after her victory. And she is looking determinedly toward the future.

I love the look on her face, her pose over her defeated opponent. Giambologna must spent many happy hours sculpting this.

My wife, who knows my tastes, initially found my admiration for this masterpiece somewhat funny, but overall respected it.
