Default Does height really matter to girls, and to wrestling?

I'm turning 29 soon, been a pretty "prolific" bachelor with plenty of satisfying relationships, even if my last one with the army combatives instructor Rose didn't end well (which i wrote about in the stories section)

I recently "reconnected" with a childhood acquaintance. She was always 2 years ahead of me in school and she and her family have been friends with mine for as long as i remember.

we started something casual, or in my opinion it's casual, so i'm not talking about relationships or anything. But she flat out rejected me essentially by saying "i dont go for short guys" despite both of us clearly showing romantic attachment. and i'm not short either. i'm 5'9, just barely 2 inches shorter than her. and i've never ever let my height (or apparently lack thereof) affect my ability to have relationships or wreslte girls

So gentlemen, 2 questions:

1) how many of you are/ have been in relationships with a taller woman? has height mattered?

2) how much does height really matter in terms of wrestling anyways? I can safely bet that weight matters much more to wrestling, along with skill and speed.

for the ladies:

1) have you ever been with a shorter guy? and did it ultimately affect anything?

I'm honestly not even sure why i'm overthinking this so much, but i appreciate the input

Interesting topic with a wide range of opinions. My opinions:

5'9" is not short, at least in the U.S. Quite average. Maybe a tad shorter than the current average.

I have known a lot of taller women who do not want to be with a guy shorter than they are. Some really buy into wanting the perception of an alpha male or trophy husband, and height plays into that perception. Other women feel awkward self-conscious about their own height, have been teased about it a lot, and want someone taller so that they don't feel awkward.

This particular woman has her own issues about height. I would write her off.

In terms of wrestling, height is probably a minimal factor, to a degree.

I was very into a girl 3/4s of an inch taller than me, and it was more difficult than it should've been.

The fact is, if a girl's strongly attracted to you, they won't really think about height – it's often hard to tell who is taller unless you're both at a mirror .. 2 inches is a stretch, if she's got lots of options, and you're only casual.

Height is mainly a social thing, so just as some men feel intimidated when a girl wear heels, if you're 5'9, you can be 5'11 in a pair of Air Force 1s (some Air Maxes), and 6' if you add 1" insoles .. I'm 6 feet or so, and I tend to prefer old-skool, flatter Nikes, or Adidas, so I use a 1" insoles .. I like taller women – it probably doubles my options .. No difference in wrestling I'm aware of .. The main thing is how a girl feels around you, and this girls needs to feel small .. Getting jacked at the gym makes you look bigger – there are 5'9 black dudes at my gym who feel like they're 6'2 .. But subtle dominance in personality is probably more important .. A 5'10 ex of mine wound up very into a shorter guy – something she swore would never happen – because he pressed the right buttons

i'm also in the southern US, so thanks for your opinion. and youre right, 5'9 isnt short. and i agree with the wrestling portion as well; unless you're 5'3 going against a 6'5 person then thats a diferent story

Even then the short person can still win if there is a significant skill or speed and athleticism difference.

I have seen it happen in real life but if you don't trust me on my word just watch this 5'3 dude outwrestling and embarassing a 6'5 guy in a street fight, and the short guy is not even a particularly good wrestler but the tall guy has zero technique so it's already more than enough:

I'm 6ft 2 so I don't often come across women taller than me. I knew one who was around my height and I was very attracted to her.

And yes the reality is that many women do care about a man's height. In fact they are super brutal about to short guys.

In that particular case, it was a bit weird .. I think the guy came across very authentically and unapologetically himself – so he was a character, and knew what he wanted from a girl.

So he'd have been a very strong presence, and not bending to her will or trying to position himself in her life – rather letting her come along.

The weird bit is an example of that .. He had some kind of armpit fetish, and this girl was very inflexible, sexually, with me, but with him, she was just going along with it – slightly weirded out – but getting into it .. And that's the vibe .. Turned out he was a conspiracy theory nut – so he was probably borderline schizophrenic, but his obsession with exposing this Eyes Wide Shut-style conspiracy oriented him, and probably gave him that vibe

In what way was she inflexible with you?

You get some girls whose mission is to please their man, and are very open with their own kinks, and others just know what they want and how they like it – I think Judith, from Two and Half Men, would be a perfect example of the latter.

I was young, and tried to approach her hangups (and my lack of satisfaction) analytically – like a therapist .. But girls don't really operate on that level – certainly when it comes to sex .. So really what you want to do is take all rational thinking out of the picture, and make it all about emotion.

You could say the Twilight books/films (and 50 Shades) are really about introducing a reserved girl to things most people would find extreme .. And actually what a girl wants is to be led in that way, to abandon all logic and restraint and get swept along with things

Female grapplers and judokas say: "They (their victims) are all the same height on the ground."
