How common and realistic is it for a woman to be stronger than a man?
Some say it is not that uncommon but men are usually stronger.
Some say it is extremely rare and takes a very strong woman and an unusually weak man. Some are not sure. Some say science just says men cary muscles differently and are always stronger. I personally fall into my first comment. I think 9 out of 10 times the guy is stronger, not the 99/100 like some people think. I am surprised though how many people even women who automatically assume a guy is stronger just by being a guy and them being a woman. Its almost as if gender stereotypes still exists in so many people even today. Your thoughts. I know some females at work that I think possibly are stronger than me, but do not know for sure? I am not that strong for a guy, but I am not unusually weak. I am weaker than average upper guy body, but not terribly weak. Just skinny arms and I think I can bench 90lb once but could not do 100lb so definitely weaker than average guy I think upper body wise. Although I do not do much weights, so that does not help my own strength as I do strictly cardio exercise. Last edited by Link2349; 02-Jul-18 at 02:17. |

Re: How common and realistic is it for a woman to be stronger than a man?
Depends on how your sample. My guess is you're instinct is probably right. Part of it is mental as well, women don't think that way in general, so they aren't going to prove they're stronger.
If you take women athletes and you try to make equivalent size comparisons, but allow for some male size advantage, you're percentages will likely go up steeply and become closer to 40%-50%. That said I would suspect there will be some males who will bristle at this concept. Not sure why, but I for one like the idea that women can be equals in physical culture, but that's just me. |

Re: How common and realistic is it for a woman to be stronger than a man?
Even though this question has been asked numerous times, I have an input , Personally my old friend/new GF said to me twice last night that she is stronger than me and said how she over powered me the other night which she did not cause I let her be on top and in control, But I will explore sometime in near future if her claim is true, I suspect that her legs are way stronger and her scissors could possible hurt me.

Re: How common and realistic is it for a woman to be stronger than a man?
(Speaking U.S. only)
According to data collected by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC 2014 & 2018): Average male - 5-foot-9, 195 lbs (175cm, 88kg) Average female - 5-foot-4, 168 lbs (163cm, 76kg) Much is said about the fact that Americans are more obese and generally less healthy in 2018 than we were 50 years ago, but there is lots of anecdotal evidence which indicates the overall "strength gap" between men and women has decreased during that same period. A 5-4, 168-lb woman is not a dainty little thing, by any stretch. A lot of them are going to be functionally stronger than a lot of 170-lb guys.

Women don't have to be stronger than men ...it's really simple ,I'm stronger than my girl but she is pretty strong in her own right when we fight ( I assume this is where this is going ) if she gets me where she wants she can beat me . I was genuinely surprised first time I felt how strong she was Like really surprised
