Default Re: Has anyone beaten a session wrestler?

I am 5'10" and about 230 lb.- been a gym rat most of my life- so am strong, but not skilledin wrestling. I wrestled Christine Marshall back when she was still doing this. She is 5'4" or so and maybe weighed 155- and muscular. She stood up to all of my attempts to use weight and strength to my advantage and completely kicked my butt. By the end of our first match/ session, I was completely helpless and exhausted- she had her way with me. the 2nd match was easier for her, since she had already establishedher dominance. She was great- I liked her- a veery nice woman--but she was also fearless- and very tough.

To me it seems that a lot of gym goers grossly understimate how strong they are compared to the average of the population since they mainly compare themselves to others people in the gym.
I suppose you have a point there. Also depends on what kind of gym you go to. When I go to a serious meathead gym, there are tons of guys lifting more than me. When I go to the nice gym in my normal yuppy neighborhood, I have caught groups of (usually college aged) guys standing around and staring at me when I lift heavy.

On another note, the figure competitor that thought she would be able to tap me out with a head scissors tried to last night. As I suspected, she was unable to. Although she was able to squeeze harder than any of the session wrestlers I have sessioned with. She said scissoring me feels like scissoring a tree lol.

She was actually really good at wrestling. I suspect that she'd be able to handle most of the men that are into this fetish in a competitive match

You can use this kind of chart to compare yourself to the average of the population by the way:

It's for sure interesting, but skills and strength are 2 different pair of shoes.

Example i have easly beaten a body builder girl, that was much stronger than me, but Antscha kick my ass being quite weaker than me! Why? Because skills, speed and talent is the better way to beat somebody than strength!

Oh I perfectly know that, I was not implying otherwise, I'm a guy with just some BJJ experience (so very, very, very far from an expert) and that was enough to beat dozens of much stronger guys, a couple of which in real fights.
I was just providing that chart as a reference for gym goers that may be curious to compare their strenght level to an unbiased sample size.

Over my years, I have only lost to one to one session wrestler. I have had about 10 different matches against high quality opposition. My loss was about 7 years ago thou, I am still waiting for a major challenge again!
