Re: Cat Zingano
Great victory for Cat last night? Can she beat Cyborg? Remember she is one of the few people to beat Amanda Nunes.

I think there is too much bad blood between her and Dana White for her to pursue another run in the UFC or a rematch with Nunes. I still see Cyborg as a heavy favourite against Cat. I don't see a path to victory for Cat. The blueprint for beating Nunes won't work against Cyborg as one of Cyborg's most underrated strengths is her gas tank. She won't gas and she won't give up. She's also bigger and stronger than Cathilee and will be hard to take down. Zingano also lacks the power and striking ability to emulate Nunes's knockout of Cyborg. I actually wouldn't be surprised to see Zingano get clipped and put away early. She tends to leave her chin hanging out and is sloppy in her striking. Both of these women would be there for the taking at this point against stronger competition but fighting each other I see Cyborg taking it. |

Re: Cat Zingano
That's a very good summary IMO. Zingano would be a heavy underdog and rightfully so.
Unfortunately for Zingano, she really missed her big chance for a stardom by stupidly charging at Ronda Rousey, then getting hip tossed and arm barred in the process. Her late husband's suicide afterwards was a second big blow. |

Cat was triggered by people calling her a "slow starter" and tried to emulate Aldo's WEC win over Swanson, going for a flying knee. But she knew full well the risk of giving your momentum to a high level Judoka. Not a smart thing to do at all. And Cat's Muay Thai is nowhere near that good. In hindsight, Zingano and McMann could've been much tougher fights for Ronda than they were. But that's often the way it goes when you're riding the crest of a wave and your confidence is high. It counts for so much in the fight game. |

Re: Cat Zingano
That was quick. I would say that loss just about wraps things up for the Cat.
Thanks for the memories.

Re: Cat Zingano
My prediction was pretty much knob-on.

To be fair, this probably always would have happened. Whether the fight was 10 years ago, 8 years ago... Whatever. Cat isn't heavy handed enough to pose a KO threat on the feet, not big enough to lean on her grappling and Cyborg doesn't gas out. Her gas tank is probably the most underrated thing about her. It's a fight Bellator had to put together but shouldn't necessarily define the end of Cat's fighting career. A fun fight between Cat and Sara McMann is a possibility. 2 women from the same era. Cat also has the possibility of trying to get down to 125 and challenge Liz Carmoushe. If Miesha can make 125, so can Cat. If the PFL merges with Bellator there will be more fights on the table with girls like Julia Budd and Genah Fabian. It's really just a case of Cat failing again against the championship-level elite of the sport, which she has always done. Doesn't mean she should retire or stop doing what she loves. |

Re: Cat Zingano
I am not sure Cat is done fighting yet. She probably should hang up the gloves and open her own gym or something. In all of these sports it’s hard at times to watch someone play a little longer than they should. But, she is a big name and still draws eyeballs to the screen.

Re: Cat Zingano
After the Bellator 300 tournament, two very logical fights arise:
1. Cris Cyborg vs. Leah McCourt. A 38-year-old great champion versus a 31-year-old contender at her peak. McCourt has a 7-2 record in Bellator and is the only obvious choice for Cyborg right now. 2. Cat Zingano vs. Sara McMann. Both super-aged veterans lost quickly and disastrously this past weekend, and perhaps the best option for both would be to consider retirement. But if they want to fight further, then fighting each other would be an interesting idea. |
