Re: So proud of Rose
What has happened to Rose? She lost to Gillian in 65 sec.

With elite MMA fighters it tends to be the case that they'll streamline their skills - move stuff they rarely use or consider ineffective to the side. You can't be a jack of all trades, master of none. In her early days, Rose was known for her dynamic grappling and submissions, but she came from being a Karate and Taekwondo child prodigy and under the tutelage of Trevor Wittman, has become more of a Boxer/Kickboxer. We can't say that it hasn't been effective as it's taken her to the title x2. Being good at Jiu Jitsu is great if you're competing in Jiu Jitsu, but not so great in an MMA match if you can't get your opponent to the ground and they're a better striker than you. I'd bet Rose beats Gillian in an MMA match. |

Rose gave her a good run and in her own country too, which is often worth something - a home town advantage. I'd say let Rose grow into the division properly, put on some more muscle, and fight in the US, it could be a different story. But that said, I do think Rose has one foot out of the door at this stage. She's been champion and she doesn't like the spotlight / celebrity status. The way Manon fights - pressuring, with volume and is big for the division, I also see her giving Valentina problems because Valentina likes to fight at a slower pace and control the distance with takedowns often to give herself a breather. The way Manon fights it will tax Valentina's gas tank. Grasso funnily enough might be her toughest challenge with slick Boxing. Having beaten Mayra Bueno Silva in 2021 as well, it would also appear 135 could be an option for Manon. I'd be surprised to ever see Grasso at 135 though. |

Re: So proud of Rose
One thing to keep in mind is that Rose broke a finger very early in that fight, which basically made one entire hand mostly useless for punching or grappling. Even with Foirot's size and strength advantage, I think that could have been a more interesting fight if that pinky had stayed unbroken. But that's life and MMA, sometimes.

Re: So proud of Rose
Rose won but it was a rather boring match.
