Default Headscissor legitimacy

Curious how many here view the headscissors holds to be a legitimate grappling hold? Its illegal in many bjj and judo leagues,of that im aware.

I don't know about Judo but they are perfectly legal in BJJ, they are just extremely rare to see exactly because they are a very low percentage and not very effective move.

I too have to say that I now have somewhat of a diminished view of headscissors at least in a grappling context. They're hard to apply when the other person has his arms free, and especially when you're sweating, they're pretty easy to slip out of.

The context where they might be more interesting/effective is if a strong girl lured a guy to come between her legs for 'other' reasons, and then suddenly sprang it on him. If she were strong enough and he were weak enough I bet she could pull it off. Also, I've always wondered what would happen if a strong woman were to apply a full pressure side scissor on a guy's throat. Seems like that would do some serious damage...

I don’t know if it’s legitimate, I know female legs are very effective, I’ve been in scissor holds that I could not break no matter what ..

Correct. Have done hundreds of sessions and the number of ladies who I think could deploy their scissors as a legit hold in a real mma match is extremely low, maybe 4 or 5 of them.

Ya ove noticed that its uncommon. It seems its difficult to get it locked on in competition setting. When it happens it usually results in a tspout though

I feel the same way!The ones I've been in ,I would have tapped regardless.Myvwife trains bjj and says its tough to land on experienced grapples.

I agree if striking comes into play, the effectiveness is very low.I have definitely been in a few that I couldn't do anything regardless.
