Honestly, everyone should know how to change a tire, male or female. It's sad the amount of people I've had to change tires for, again, both male and female.

But as to the actual point of this, I don't have an ego when it comes to things like that. If someone can do something better than I can, even if it's something "manly" I'm cool with that.

If this happened to me, hypothetically, I wouldn't mind at all. I bus everywhere anyway; it's understandable that I can't change a tire. If she can, cool. I don't ascribe to the whole "manly" business. After all, I get off from emasculation and what not.

Admittedly, I do have a bit of an intellectual ego that hurts sometimes. I would feel intimidated by a date (or even a classmate, friend, etcetera) if she were particularly smarter than me in my area of study, got better grades than me, etcetera. I hate it, because I try to not to be sexist or anything. It just kind of makes me feel small down there... I would have to talk to her about it - to help me out with my problem, not stop being smart - but I wouldn't ditch her. Having a smart partner to converse with would be lovely.

A lot of people that have never done it before simply don't have the confidence and would sooner call for roadside assistance. Difference between men and women is that women will admit this, men won't. Until the situation arises, they are of course experts on all things mechanical.

Guys will talk the talk, but put them to the test and suddenly they will balk.

Changing a wheel is really not that difficult. My Dad showed me when I was a kid. The hardest thing is physically undoing the nuts. If I was with a girl and couldn't get the wheel nuts undone and she had a go and could, it would definitely sting, especially if done in front of a group, but for me it would also be a turn on to see a girl showing her strength. I'm happy to admit there are women out there stronger than me. My max deadlift is 150KG, that's paltry stuff compared to what some of these teen girl powerlifters you see on IG. They could exert a lot more force on a wrench than me and most other men.

You see it all the time in the gym. "I can" suddenly becomes "could if I wasn't injured/tired/gotta go now" or my favorite "I used to be able to..." - fair enough if you're Arnie's age, but not a guy in his mid 20s or 30s.
